Self Catering Holidays And Rental Cars In South Africa For The Perfect Holiday. Mar 07

A holiday in South Africa could be loads of fun. Especially when the Northern half of the world is suffering under a thick layer of snow, South Africans are relaxing on wide open beaches enjoying the African sun. South Africa is also one of the most affordable tourist destinations in the world and perhaps the only one offering first world facilities at third world prices.

Self-catering holidays are very enjoyable and affordable options when you visit South Africa. The country has numerous top quality resorts where there’s fully fitted chalets for rent a prices that you will never find in the Western World. Our family recently rented chalet near the resort town of Hermanus in the Southern Cape which even had the latest model delonghi oven in the modern kitchen!

There’s a variety of car rental firms at Cape Town International Airport. You will need a credit card to rent a car from all of them, although in town there’s a couple that rents out older cars for cash. Always check out the car’s body in the presence of a company representative. Otherwise you will be liable to pay if they find scratches or dents on the car when you return it.

If you should by any chance be traveling with your baby, try to reserve a car that’s fitted with a britax car seat. This will not only provide he baby with a comfortable trip, but could well save his life in an emergency. The few South African rands it will cost extra is well worth it.

Then head out of town with the N2. On the way you will pass the seaside towns of Strand and Gordon’s Bay on your right, before ascending Sir Lowry’s pass. There’s a lookout point at the top of the pass from where you have a magnificent view of the Cape Peninsula and False Bay right below you. On the other side of the mountain you will enter corn and apple country. There are many apple farms producing for the export market near the town of Grabouw.

After more or less an hour’s drive you will enter the lovely seaside town of Hermanus. There’s a couple of good quality self-catering resorts in and around town. Once you’ve found a nice place to stay, it’s time to start exploring the vicinity. In and around the town center are a large number of restaurants, many with beautiful sea views. There’s a flea market as well, where you can purchase all kinds of local crafts and arts. Watch out for the hawkers selling watches - my son bought a men’s sport watch there last time and it only lasted three days!

If you don’t have fun in the Hermanus area, you have only yourself to blame. The scenery is beautiful, the people are great and the numerous restaurants mean you can eat out at a different place every day. There are also boat trips and a visit to one of the surrounding towns is very interesting.

An Alpine Ski Holiday With Your Baby In Seefeld, Austria Feb 24

In the Tirol region of western Austria lies one of the most charming and laid back ski resorts you are ever likely to find in Europe. In Seefeld you won’t find high-rises - instead you will find lots of quaint buildings with wooden balconies and flower boxes. The quintessential Austria of postcards in other words.

Seefeld is the kind of place you come to when you want to have a relaxed holiday. It was designed to be like this more than 50 years ago and today it still lives up to those expectations. In the virtually car-free town center you can quietly sip a coffee while watching vacationers from all over Europe and the world strolling around, doing exactly what you are doing - relaxing.

If you are traveling with your baby, just a gentle reminder: breast feeding in public might be socially acceptable in your own country, but it certainly isn’t here. So rather invest in an avent breast pump and keep the milk in a container ready for future use. This way your baby will never be without breast milk and you won’t have to be stared at.

As I mentioned earlier: Seefeld is not the place to head to for all-night parties. Having said that, there is certainly an abundance of good restaurants, many with live music in season. We once enjoyed dinner at a lovely traditional restaurant where the musician played folk music on his ibanez acoustic guitar with so much feeling and energy that it brought tears to our eyes.

Seefeld’s ski slopes are not meant for wild skiing encounters either. Although there are gondolas and lifts taking you up to as high as 2100m, Seefeld is in fact better known for cross-country skiing. It was the location for all cross-country events during 2 winter Olympic games (1964 and 1976) that took place in Innsbruck 21km from here.

It’s of course best to bring your own ski equipment, but should you end up in Seefeld without ski equipment, there are quite a number of ski shops where you can buy fine quality Alpine skiing equipment at acceptable prices. There are places where you can rent equipment as well. Whether to buy or sell is a decision you should make based on how often you plan to ski in future.

Seefeld is just over 20km away from the city of Innsbruck. Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany is about half an hour’s drive away. Both these locations are great day trips from Seefeld. Both have completely different, but astounding architecture and the surrounding mountain scenery is well worth a trip on its own.

Could your next holiday be the next top holiday location in the world? Jan 31

Now it is time for us to provide you with something special to take into next year with you. The holidays are now upon us and we need to get booking those all important holidays for family. The recession is finally coming to end, at least we hope it is, so why not use that little bit of extra cash to get yourself a lovely new holiday.

The most important thing to remember is that these holidays may not be the best in the world, but they are the new and up-coming phenomenon. Hurghada has always been a destination that has been popular with the tourist. Only certain people want to go on these holidays, because it needs to get it’s name out there. Hurghada has only really recently been discovered as a potentially massive tourist opportunity, Sharm El Sheikh had always had dominance over other places in Egypt. Diving is still big here and the hotels are of just as good quality. There is so much to do including, boat rides with clear bottoms, to see the corals and even camel rides across the desert plains.

Well next here is Sri Lanka, and is one of the newer locations that tourists want to visit these days. It hasn’t been all that safe and secure for tourists to travel to Sri Lanka mainly because of the long running civil war, which has calmed recently. Described by many as a place for people to find themselves, this holiday location provides some truly gorgeous surroundings. The spa hotels have been the biggest tourist driving attractions, and now people are beginning to venture out on safaris in Sri Lanka.

The Caribbean is the next location, but a country in particular. However Cuba is well on its way to becoming one of the biggest holiday locations in the world. Welcome to the past, that should be Cuba’s pull for tourists, it is quite literally like walking back in time when you visit. These holidays have gone from strength to strength.

All you need to do is decide on one of these vacations, Sri Lanka holidays, Cuba holidays and Hurghada holidays, what do you think!

Perfect Summer Holidays on the island of Lanzarote Jan 09

There are a select few holiday destinations that you can guarantee will be fully booked with British tourists all seeking out the sunny weather and among these destinations there’s Lanzarote. Lanzarote is one of the most popular of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Every year British tourists as well as tourists from other European countries flock to the island to enjoy the perfect beaches, plentiful restaurants and thriving tourist trade in general whether you are looking for a package holidays or even all inclusive holidays

.

The island is perfect for the beach resort holiday that many UK families of all ages search for. One interesting feature of Lanzarote’s beaches that sets it apart from others is their black sand beaches. Whilst they are rare they come as a result of volcanic eruptions which leave the trademark black sands. This shouldn’t worry you though as the majority of Lanzarote’s many beaches are of the white or golden sand variety.

Many of these beaches are accredited with the blue flag making them perfectly safe for families to spend a few days lounging on or swimming in the ocean. They also have all the features you’d expect and need at the beach such as sun loungers, toilets and parasols.

There are many beaches so you shouldn’t end up cramming on to a beach that is packed with other like-minded tourists; the southern coast is particularly popular due to the warmer climate even during winter months. The North Eastern coast can be popular with windsurfers and kite surfers due to the winds that are stronger there.

There are plenty of restaurants and hotels in the major resort areas but there are plenty of attractions away from the beach crowd if that is what you want if only for a day. The island’s capital Arrecife has a much more modern and metropolitan feel to it, a lot of development is happening in the port based city and over half of the island’s residents live in the area.

The nearby town of Teguise has a rich history from the age of sea faring pirates and used to be the island’s capital city with two castles overlooking the two cities that harkens back to the time when the island was home to an impressive fleet defending the island from pirate attacks.

The island of Lanzarote has something for everyone and it’s clear to see why the island is still so popular to his day so if you are looking for a place to go next year then holidays to Lanzarote could be right up your street.

January will be approaching fast, and so we will all be trying to booking our holidays making tour operators work like crazy. However we need to look at the top location to visit in the world, and that is set to be the Caribbean. There are islands to visit and there are some that you just need to avoid.

So what is the number one island in the Caribbean for people to visit, and has received some of the best reviews in the world. St Lucia provides a lot for people to try, ranging from beach holidays to safari holidays. This island is more of a relaxation therapy island, filled with Spa holiday hotels. If you want to sun bathe and get your self a massage everyday, along with a swim in the clearest blue seas around, then St Lucia is for you. This is also recorded as one of the safest islands in the Caribbean, for families or couples. These hotels all receive some of the best possible reviews and all of these same hotels all have some of the most stunning accommodation around. There are some luxurious hotels that want to give you a unique experience on St Lucia, and some provide a Safari tour in the Jungle.

Right so now we know where the most glorious location to visit in the Caribbean is, but where now should we all try to avoid, and for what reasons. There is definitely one island that stands out among the rest. Right at the bottom of the Caribbean, in a south easterly direction, you meet Trinidad. Now this island has a somewhat bad reputation with tourists, and fore one very powerful reason. Trinidad has a very bad reputation in the Caribbean for being the most dangerous place to holiday. You want a reason not to go to Trinidad well that was it. You definitely have to go to St Lucia!

So the Caribbean holidays are just around the corner, where are you going to go, how do St Lucia holidays sound, maybe you like the clubbing lifestyle, in which case Barbados holidays are the best option!

Interested in going on a holiday to Kenya? Take your children for some education! Jan 04

A holiday with your children is almost always good fun, but why not make it educational too. Many tourists quite like to take their children on a holiday that provides an educational boost. Holidays to exotic cultures and destinations where things are so different could help to boost your child’s general knowledge of the world.

If you can get a holiday where things are very different, then you will find your mentality shifting. A Safari holiday allows people to experience the environment in its rarest and purest form. In order for people to book a holiday to Africa, you need to find the best possible place to go, and the Maasai Mara is the place for this, in Kenya. Being able to get up close and personal with nature allows you to experience animals and wild life for real.

Seeing the big five can be a real eye opener for anyone. There are 5 animals in particular that are truly stunning that live in Africa, and they were called the Big Five because they were the most difficult to hunt. The Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo, Lion and Rhinoceros. We need to do our best to protect these animals because they are endangered, if we can keep them alive for future generations then all the better. These animals aren’t going to be around forever and what better way to help the younger generation realise they can help, by taking them on holiday.

If we want to preserve life and keep things working, we need to try and realise what is happening to the planet. Safari holidays allow us to get in touch with the natural world. Some people believe that the best way to learn is vocationally, so actually visiting these countries would have a grand impact.

One massive issue is the overall price of these holidays, they are not at all cheap. One advantage at the moment is that the holidays in particular have become very competitive. In order to keep up with each other, Tour Operators have been lowering their prices considerably.

Kenya holidays are showing to be very much “the in thing”, then Namibia holidays and Tanzania holidays, all you have to do is decide which national reserve you would like to visit?

What there is to see and do at UK holiday parks Dec 30

UK holiday parks have long been a staple of the UK family holiday, for decades British families have gone to these parks to get away from the working world and enjoy some time off which will also entertain the children letting the adults relax properly. Whilst the UK holiday park trade has been going for an incredibly long time the dawn of the commercial airliners saw many UK tourists fly away to new resorts in Spain, Greece and other warmer climate countries.

The cost of flying though has risen as well as the amount of hassles there are in order to fly abroad from passport issues to excess luggage costs it all means more stress and confusion at the airport, definitely not what you want at the beginning of your holiday.

When you compare this process to simply getting in the car or catching a bus it is easy to see which method provides the least amount of hassle. A lot more families are now choosing holidaying in the UK as they are more tailored towards providing a great time for all members of the family with entertainment and activities targeted to adults, teenagers and young children alike.

Obviously children have plenty of energy and the excitement of being on holiday can really ramp this up, luckily to put this energy to good use there are plenty of participation sports and activities that children can get involved with getting them the exercise they need as well as not being bored left to their own devices on a beach abroad. Whilst many UK holiday resorts are located near to the British seaside at places like Blackpool, Skegness and Bognor Regis there are still plenty of other activities to provide variety to the mix.

Adults can obviously rest easy with qualified child minders and kids groups to look after them whilst mum and dad relax and unwind. There are plenty of sports and activities for adults too such as relaxing spa treatments as well as adult specific entertainment with comedians and musical acts that mum and dad will enjoy. A lot of the performances and acts on at these parks are familiar to many as contestants on popular British televised talent shows like The X Factor and Britain’s Got Talent.

So after hearing about all of these details it’s no wonder that family holidays in the UK have become massively popular and are expanding for next year’s crowd too. Check out the nearest family holiday parks to you to see if you could book a stress-free and relaxing holiday the whole family can enjoy.

Holiday Parks this Half Term Dec 25

It seems like only 5 minutes ago we were talking about the summer holidays and how you were going to fill them but here comes another holiday for the school children. This means another week were you have to find something for them to do but fear not as there are plenty of options available by simply opting for a visit to a holiday park.

Holiday parks are the perfect choice for a family holiday this half term. They provide a mix of activities and shows for people of all ages that are sure to keep the kids entertained and you suitably relaxed. Often the problem with a family holiday is that there is not enough for children to do which, in turn, makes things harder for the parents as the children will naturally come to them for things to do.

At holiday parks, children are not just put into one age bracket as older children will want to do more exciting and tasking activities than younger children will. This is why there are 3 different groups, 0-4 years old, 5-12 years old and Teens. This means that the activities can be tailored to the liking of a certain age rather can categorising all young people under one section.

Children can get quite picky when they get older so holiday parks have a range of activities to keep them entertained including football coaching where they can learn some silky skills, dance classes where they can learn some silky moves and a fantastic water park where they can just go crazy and have a wild time.

For the younger ones there are activities and shows that incorporate some of the popular cartoon characters such as Bob the Builder and Barney. This keeps their interest and they are guaranteed to have a great time as they sing and dance along to their favourite tunes from the cartoons. Of course the fun is not only for the young ones as there are a range of activities for the grown-ups with adventure hiking, go-karting and beach sports available. If you fancy relaxing then there is a fantastic Spa available too.

At the end of October there is Halloween themed evenings to enjoy where things get spooky and there are plenty of shows from the countries leading entertainers to enjoy too so there will never be a shortage of activities for you and your family to enjoy.

Egypt holds children in hospital for fear of Swine Flu! Dec 17

The world is still being attacked by Swine Flu. It was coming to that point where, we all thought that the Swine Flu epidemic was starting to end. Now Swine Flu has reached practically every corner of the planet, and is still taking lives. It is now that people are only really starting to realise that Swine Flu is here to stay for a while to come, what they want to know is what symptoms are on their way?

There are a few symptoms that are clearly distinguishable from the common flu and Swine Flu. It is said that if you have Swine Flu, there will be no questioning it, you will know about it. Flu has a way of slowly moving its way through your immune system and makes its climax after a couple of days. Swine Flu acts much quicker, making the victim feel extremely bad in a short amount of time. The Symptoms that you get with Swine Flu are very much the same as those that you get from the Common Flu, such as Back aches and muscle ache, Nausea. The biggest and most noticeable difference in these Flu’s is that the Swine Flu one is much, much worse, all of the symptoms you would normally experience are terribly exacerbated.

Tourism is once again being dealt a blow due to the Swine Flu Virus. School half term has just passed, and so have the holiday rushes that come with it, but it was not quite so pleasant for some travelling to Egypt, suspected of having Swine Flu. These people have described their experiences as harrowing, and the place they were taken to to be a “hell hole”. Before the tourists even knew it, armed guards were alerted to the Childrens body heat as being “high”, and they were bundled into ambulances and taken to a nearby hospital. Swine Flu won’t be vacating the premises or leaving the building at any time soon, it will be a virus that hangs around and will either fade quickly at some point, or hang around for years.

Egypt holidays have received a bit of a smashing recently; Caribbean holidays ,also St Lucia holidays have shown to be very promising through the Swine Flu era.
